A transfer from Houston, Yoho missed the entire 2021 and 2022 seasons at Indiana due to a knee injury and Tommy John surgery. He finally joined the Hoosiers bullpen in 2023 and showed signs of domination with 63 strikeouts in 37 innings. The Brewers selected the right-hander in the eighth round and signed him for just $10,000 as a senior addition. Pitching in his first full season this summer, Yoho has been one of the best relievers across Minor League Baseball, and as of July 3, he leads the Minors (min. 30 IP) with a 47.7 percent K rate and 39.8 K-BB% in his first 25 appearances between High-A and Double-A.
The 6-foot-3 right-hander shines much more for his secondary pitches than for his mundane 91-93 mph sinking fastball, and a decrease in fastball usage from college explains how he’s been even more successful on the pro side to this point. His upper-70s changeup is a devastating pitch, showing tremendous separation from the heater and good armside fade that makes it all the tougher to touch. Double-A hitters were whiffing on 50 percent of their swings against the cambio entering early July, and Yoho will throw the pitch to batters from either side. His 76-78 mph sweeping slider gives him another whiff-heavy option with a long tail going gloveside.
After averaging 4.6 BB/9 in Bloomington last spring, Yoho has kept walks in check on the pro side, and it’s more his age and injury history that keeps him locked into a bullpen role. While more tests will come higher up the chain, the quality of Yoho’s stuff is high enough that he’ll be able to contribute to Milwaukee’s relief corps early in his career.
