Scouting grades: Hit: 50 | Power: 60 | Run: 40 | Arm: 55 | Field: 45 | Overall: 50

After setting a Duke freshman record with 11 homers in 2023, Fischer transferred to Mississippi and led the Rebels with 20 blasts last spring. He changed schools again, moving to defending College World Series champion Tennessee and finishing third in NCAA Division I with 25 homers and fourth with 63 walks. He's similar to former Volunteers third baseman Billy Amick, who transferred from Clemson for 2024 and went to the Twins in the second round.

Fischer's signature tool is his plus power that works to all fields, the product of a left-handed swing with bat speed and loft, strength in his 6-foot-1, 210-pound frame and a slugging mindset. He showed that he can launch balls in the air with wood bats last summer in the Cape Cod League. He has been even more productive as a junior after toning down his approach and chasing pitches a lot less, and he also did a better job of handling sliders.

Fischer could have helped his cause further by upgrading his defense at third base, but he has barely played there this spring. He has solid arm strength but below-average speed and range at the hot corner, so Tennessee has deployed him mostly at first base, where he's a decent defender. He played some second base on the Cape but lacks the quickness for the position.

2026

Scouting grades: Hit: 50 | Power: 60 | Run: 40 | Arm: 55 | Field: 45 | Overall: 50

Fischer was constantly on the move in college, picking up notable slugging benchmarks along the way. He set the Duke freshman record with 11 homers in 2023, led Mississippi with 20 homers in 2024 and finished third in all of Division I with 25 homers for Tennessee in 2025, just in time for his Draft year. The lefty slugger went to the Brewers with the 20th overall pick, signing for below slot at $3.5 million, and there were some in the Milwaukee Draft room that believed him to be the best college hitter in his class. Fischer wrapped up ’25 with 19 games with High-A Wisconsin, hitting .311/.402/.446 in that span.

Fischer’s calling card is going to be his power as he consistently gets to hard-hit contact with good bat speed, strength and lift in his swing. His ability to launch the ball carried over into pro ball quickly, and he could be a 25-homer threat with that optimization. Fischer’s approach took a nice jump during his time as a Volunteer. He became the Tennessee batter other teams had to plan around, and he proved less willing to chase bad pitches than he was at his previous stops, leading to 63 walks (tied for the most in a single season in program history). He’ll be a bit more challenged on breaking stuff against pro arms, but it’s a promising trendline.

Fischer, who also saw time in left field as a collegian, played primarily first base in Knoxville, but the Brewers already intend to give him a chance to stick at the opposite corner. His above-average arm will work there, but his range is a better fit for the cold corner. It’s going to come down to the bat regardless, and Fischer has the offensive makings of a potential quick mover in a strong-development organization.

The Brewers intend to try him at the hot corner, at least to start, knowing he could always move back across the diamond.
